Activities
There are some beautiful beaches in the near vicinity, lovely forest walks. Riding, golf and loch fishing can all be arranged.

Tain is the home of Glenmorangie, sample the 'water of life' at the nearby Distillery visitors centre.

The Tain Through Time Museum at the St Duthus Church is just around the corner as is
Browns Gallery a wonderful collection of Scottish works of Art.

Only 15 mins drive to the beautiful town of Dornoch with beautiful beach, famous golf course. Try Luigi's for some lunch or dinner and the patisserie makes heavenly treats and great coffee.

The long and sandy Embo Beach is just a bit further up the road from Dornoch or head north to Golspie where you can visit the magnificent gardens at Dunrobin and watch the falconry display.

On a different day head east to Potmahomack and the Tarbet discovery centre, about 20 mins by car. Great food at the Oyster Catcher.

In the summer months you can get the ferry to Cromarty a very pretty village on the black Isle with some good antique shops and lovely pottery where bottlenose dolphin and seals are regularly spotted.
 

  The world famous Royal Dornoch Championship Course (currently ranked 15th) is just a 20 minute drive from Murray’s street cottages.

It shares stunning views across the Dornoch Firth and Sutherland hills with The Struie, an
18 hole links course which complements the main course.

Close to home or further afield there are over
40 excellent courses located throughout the Highlands including Tain, Brora, Golspie, Fortrose and Rosemarkie, Invergordon, Strathpeffer, Wick, Thurso and Reay to name only a few.

  Buntings to bullfinches, linnet to lapwing, songthrush to skylark and siskin - feathered friends too numerous to mention take up residence at nearby lochs.

Whooper swans in their hundreds glide effortlessly across the loch and Greylag and Pink Foot geese in their thousands descend in late Autumn, with over 30,000 having been recorded in one season.
If you're prepared to linger a little longer, you may spot osprey on a hunting trip or a playful otter indulging in some watersport.

Handa Island is a wonderful day out, Guillemots, razorbills, and great skuas reach internationally important numbers. There are also kittiwakes, arctic skuas and some puffins.
